Tony Makdissy was born in Lebanon in 1986. In 2010, he received an engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunication from the Lebanese University (Faculty of Engineering), and a Master of research degree in Networks and Communication Systems from INSA of Rennes (France). In Spring 2010, he pursued an internship at the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of Rennes (IETR). The work focused on the design of a MEMS-based phase-shifting cell for reconfigurable reflectarray antennas. This work was carried out in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space (Toulouse, France) as part of the ANR-R3MEMS project. In 2013, T. Makdissy received a PhD in Electronics & Telecommunications from INSA of Rennes. His research focused on the design of new topologies of phase-shifting cells, with low cost and reduced complexity, for wideband reflectarrays. This thesis was also carried out in partnership with Thales Alenia Space (Toulouse, France) as part of the European Space Agency ESA-MERCURY project. Dr Makdissy’s research interests are analysis and design of Passive & Reconfigurable Reflectarrays, Beam Forming Networks, and multi-band antennas.
